Lean in Hospitals
Thanks to Deborah Hartmann who pointed me to this article about the use of the Toyoto Production System (Lean) at hospitals in the United States. They have some interesting "waste" figures that to me actually seem _low_. The article notes a 40% process cycle efficiency, but if I would have been asked to guess, I would expect a number more like 10-15% for the hospital system. Thoughts on why there might be this discrepancy? Am I just way to pessimistic?!
